Okay, this is... kind of a dumb question, but—

[Hope leans back a little and sighs, adjusting the sling around his left arm with a slight wince. He's somewhat arched awkwardly over the journal's view, the book itself spread across his lap since he currently only has one hand to work the thing.]

I just moved into a new house, and I'm sick of this colour. [He shifts his upper body to the side, attempting to prop up the journal to show what he means. What the camera catches instead is a blurred view of the plain walls zipping past before it slips from his hand and falls to the floor with a thump.

Heaving an exasperated sigh, the boy stoops to pick the thing up, dropping it onto the bed next to him with a bit of a scowl.]

... forget it. But really, I'm going to paint the walls in my room this time, and I don't care if I get in trouble. So... does anyone know what would be a good colour, because... um... my favourite colours wouldn't look very good. [Day-Glo orange walls? No.]

[A pause.]

Can we... can we even get paint here?

[Very shortly thereafter, because he's stir-crazy after spending several days recovering from the battle, he'll be found either en route to or at the the plaza—which is essentially right next to his new home (House #41) anyway—journal tucked beneath his good arm.]

[The throw pillow is what he notices first, making a grab for it.] Is this a... an accent pillow? [Hope turns it over in his hands, inspecting it curiously, before letting his eyes fall over the rest of the items.]

Painting rooms, for one thing. [As he's giving the pillow in his hands a little toss, letting it flop onto the bed. But the paint does grab his interest.] This looks kind of... dark.

It's a primer, which means uh... I think you put it on under paint?

[A little shift and] I couldn't find real paint.

It's okay. [Hope smiles a little at that.] I'm going to go find real paint later, so I'll hold onto this. Maybe it does go on underneath. I've never painted a room before... it seems really involved, huh.

Very much so. It's a lot harder than they make it look on those shows, you'd just need to ask T and the others about they time they tried to redo Kimi's room.

Okay. ... um, I don't think I know who those people are, though. Are they in your house?

Uh... um, no. They're- Tommy's my brother, and then the others - Chuckie, Phil, and Lil, they're his - our - friends. Kimi's Chuckie's sister. And Anglica's... my cousin. None of them are here.

Oh. [Hope frowns a little.] So you're here by yourself? [This kid is even younger than him... and it was only several months ago that he was completely taken out of his element.]

Well... Yeah, I guess. I've been making new friends and meeting new people though!

[He says this hopefully but... yeah. It's unsettling]

[A pause.]

Why do you have teeth on your hat?

Oh first- this? Sherpa hat.

[And then he dangles them] Because they're cool.

But... they're teeth. [Hope's not sure whether to be amused or disgusted... the expression on his face looks like more of the latter, at any rate.] They look like the kind of teeth old people wear.

...what's a Sure-Pa?

Well yeah. [He looks his hair around a bit to tug on the teeth to show Hope. They are dentures... not real ones of course, but the sort of replica ones you might find at a store] But dude, sherpas. Oh man, do you have tales to tell you. Sit down for it.

[Hope takes a hesitant seat on the edge of his bed, still eyeing those false dentures apprehensively.] Do they all have teeth on their hats?

But okay! Sherpas! They're a mountain people from Tibet who know their way around mountains and know how to go in ways more than anyone else. They can even show people how to go up Everest!

[Hope scratches his head.] Tibet...? Ever-est? I've never even heard of these places before. Is it like the Waterscape?

I dunno! Only if the Waterscape's frozen! Both of them are really high mountainous regions where you climb up cliffs covered in snow and brave terrible conditions and you can yodel too! And these sheraps, dude, they can get an-nee-where in theses mountains. Even, like I said, Everest. It's also know as uh... hold on, I know this. [Pause, and he tugs a bit on his hat, thinking. They call it... oh, right!] Jo-mo-lung-ma. Jomolungma. It's like... nine kilometers tall! That's like! 2 Dilometers almost! Over 29,000 feet!

[His eyes grow a little wide at all the information being thrown at him. Absolutely none of the places named are ones he recognizes, of course, but that's to be expected. Hope hasn't met a single other person from Cocoon here besides Lightning, and he doesn't expect that to change any time soon.]

Jo-mo-lung-ma? [He repeats the name like it's some kind of foreign tongue.] What's yodeling?

Even been on a mountain, man? Or something like that? When you yell, it echos - yodeling is the art of making those echos sound good.
